At the third online forum in the series analyzing China's industrial economic trends, themed "Manufacturing Industry Responding to the Severe Impact of the Pandemic," Zhang Hong, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the China National Coal Association, highlighted that currently, the nation's coal industry is experiencing continued capacity release, subdued demand, and declining prices. As a result, the market for mine hoisting equipment is clearly oversupplied, placing significant operational challenges on coal enterprises in older mining regions.

Basic Types of Mine Reclamation

During mining operations, indiscriminate extraction can easily lead to issues such as soil stripping, the accumulation of rock fragments and low-grade ore, the formation of open-pit areas and subsidence zones, tailings buildup, and the creation of land that becomes unusable due to mining activities. To restore these areas, stabilizing slopes involves removing hazardous rocks, reshaping steep inclines into gentler gradients, and transforming unstepped cliffs into as many horizontal terraces as possible. Additionally, for managing tailings, increasing their utilization rate is crucial—by finding markets for these materials, we can promote large-scale, diversified resource recovery and commercialization, turning what was once considered waste into valuable economic assets and integral components of our economy.
